Linda W. needed to update the exterior of her Hartford home. She called MDF Painting to paint and perform light carpentry work.
 In her contract, she specified that the window trims and high gable end fascia above the garage should be painted. The carpentry work was replacing the threshold. Linda wanted the moisture checked after the previous paint job was sanded down to the bare wood. After these tasks were accomplished, MDF applied primer. The exterior needed Sherwin Williams Emerald satin finish paint. One coat was painted to all the window trims and fascia. The result was a warm tan exterior color that Linda adored!

Mike G. called MDF Painting to update the look of his deck. The previous stain had started to deteriorate. Because of the exposure to weather and foot traffic, decks need to be re-stained more often than other painting jobs.
 A full pressure washing job was included in this project. If you're staining or painting any surface, starting with the cleanest possible slate will produce the best results. For exterior work like decks, MDF's process is to first clean, then sand. This procedure is especially important when the previous paint is peeling off. It provides a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to, so the paint will sit perfectly.
 After this step was accomplished, the deck floor, spindles, and railings were painted with 2 coats of the Sherwin William's Superdeck Solid Stain. Mike wanted to see a few different shades for possible colors. It was a close tie between Sherwin Williams Cabin Brown and Sherwin Williams Buckthorn, but the latter won out in the end. The result was changing from a peeling rusty brown to a chic and modern gritty grey. It perfectly complimented the olive green exterior of the home! Mike was ecstatic with the final product!

       Larry W. contacted MDF Painting to stain the exterior of his home in South Glastonbury. The house was custom designed by local architect Ted Cox in 1978 and needed an exterior update.

      The scope of work included a full pressure-wash for the house and the attached garage. Sanding the loose and peeling stain is always a must before applying any new primer or paint. The best choice for bare wood projects like these is a slow-drying oil-based primer. Caulk touch-ups used Sherwin Williams Shermax as needed. All of the sidings were repainted with Sherwin Williams Woodscapes Solid Stain in Navajo White. This line specializes in wood exteriors to add protection and prevent peeling. Woodscapes Solid Stain has a rich color saturation that goes on opaquely. Two coats were applied on all the soffits and fascia, while one coat was applied on the siding. The doors were painted with Sherwin Williams Emerald Satin. HC Concrete Stain was used on the foundation to complete the exterior painting. Larry's painting investment looks better than imagined and is currently on the market!

        Anthony and Allison P. called MDF Painting to update the interiors of their home. Their request included painting the walls, trims, ceilings, and doors. The couple also wanted some light carpentry work to add trim to frame their kitchen cabinets.

       With every painting job, the first step is prep work. For an interior project, that means resurfacing the walls and adding plaster if needed. For this particular project, Anthony and Allison wanted to change the color for each room. MDF always helps its clients with this process by painting samples of new color possibilities onto the intended walls. Areas that needed painting included the kitchen, the halls, living room, three bathrooms, the kid's playroom, and 4 bedrooms. Everyone agreed that using 2 coats of paint would have the best outcome in changing the colors of the rooms. As the job went on, the couple had asked if a new door could be installed and painted. An additional work order added this request to the contract.

       We used Benjamin Moore Aura Spa in a matte finish be used on the bathroom walls, while the ceilings were painted with a flat sheen. Sherwin Williams Emerald Matte was recommended for the other walls throughout the home, and Emerald Urethane Semi-Gloss was applied to the trim. All the ceilings except for the bathroom were painted with ProMar 200 in a flat sheen. Anthony and Allison are thrilled with their new paint job and the colors throughout their home! This job couldn't have gone smoother, and MDF was happy to update.

 Tanya M. called MDF Painting to update the paint in her bedroom and closets. She had an existing accent wall that she did not want to be painted. MDF got to work after picking the exact color she wanted.
  After covering the furniture and prepping the walls, painters sprayed ceilings with BM Muresco flat in Chantilly Lace. They also painted that color in Benjamin Moore's Aura Matte finish for the walls. Three closets and the trim used Benjamin Moore's Advance High Gloss finish in the same Chantilly Lace shade. Paul and Randy wanted to change the color of the interior of their home in Glastonbury, CT. Their stairwell, second floor hall were to be painted along with their living room and dining room.

  For the stairwell and second floor hall they decided to do the full coverage on their ceilings and walls. The ceilings remained the same color as the preexisting white and the walls they wanted to change the color. In the living room and dining room Paul and Randy chose the full coverage for their ceilings and walls too. The color for the ceilings was matched to the white shade that was already there before and for the walls they changed the color to Benjamin Moore paint in the shade of Winter Wheat. We also repaired a crack on their guest room door. We repaired the cracks, nail pops and uneven surface edge by their closet door. MDF removes and repaired their vent grills in both their living and dining room.

MDF was contacted by Edna to pressure wash he exterior of her home, deck, front porch and side entrance steps for her home in Hartford, CT.

For the back deck and side entrance steps to begin working on them we sanded the deck and steps to remove any loose and peeling stain. Then, we applied the full coverage coats of solid stain. For the color of the solid stain Edna requested we color match to the color that was already there, so we went to Sherwin Williams where they created a custom formula to match the red tone color it had. As for the spindles, railings, posts, lattice, risers, stringers, and fascia we applied the full coverage coats of a color match paint as well.

The exterior of a home in Bristol, CT had paint flaking due to weather damage and old age. This customer wants to repair and update his entire home. He has cracks along with his corner bead in various rooms, major taping damage in the sunroom, and peeling on a few areas of trim. Additionally, he wants to change the wall color in 3 rooms and update the painting with a fresh coat throughout the whole house. MDF will use fiberglass tape, compound and Big Stretch caulk to get this space prepared properly and ready for paint. We are using Benjamin Moore Regal Select Matte Finish on the walls, Ceiling 508 Flat white on all ceilings, and Advance Satin on all the trim work!

This new homeowner had to fire her last painter after he damaged her property. Specifically, he did not prepare any of the oil-based trim properly before coating over it with a new latex trim paint. This has led to trim paint peeling off everywhere with just the lightest touch/scratch. A plumbing contractor she had working on her renovation recommended she call us for a professional solution!

We have a lot of preparation work to do here. After we cover all the floors and furniture with plastic and rosin paper, we have to carefully prep every square inch. The walls need to be pole sanded and tack ragged clean. The caulk needs to be stripped and re-caulked with “Big Stretch.” The trim needs to be fully sanded, primed with Stix bonding primer and painted with Benjamin Moore Advance Satin. The final wall topcoats will be with Regal Select Matte and Aura Spa Matte.

This past customer recently moved from Greenwich and bought a depression-era gem in West Hartford. This beautiful home which displays the excellent work of dozens of early 20th Century craftsmen is now in need of a fine exterior paint job!

MDF’s team is proud to continue in the tradition of excellence with the following scope of work:

We will first complete a full pressure wash of the entire exterior including all masonry and trim. Then, we will do a single treatment of the roof with “Spray It and Forget It” and sand all areas with deteriorating paint. Next, we will measure moisture in sanded areas to determine that moisture content is below 13%, use slow-drying oil-based primer on all bare wood, and use problem-solving Primer Rx on areas that have light cracking but are not removed to bare wood. After, we will use Shermax Premium caulk in all deteriorated caulked areas as necessary and apply two finish coats of Sherwin-Williams Woodscapes Solid Stain (matched to Farrow & Ball “Charleston Gray”).

Soon after, we will stain all surfaces including all garage doors, storm doors, wooden entry doors, all clapboard, fascia, soffits, lintels, window sills, and the vertical siding on the rear of the home. Some exclusions include the casement windows, storm windows, wood framing surrounding the casement windows, and masonry. Finally, we will restain post caps and the top edge of the fencing with a semi-transparent Arborcoat to match the existing color!

This new customer is in need of a fresh coat of paint on the full interior of her home. She also wants to clean, repair, and stain her deck! MDF will paint the interior with color changes to every wall, pressure wash, and stain the deck! We are excited to transform her home, so she can begin to enjoy her deck just in time for summer!

The new owners don't like the current interior colors of the home and would like to take the walls back to white and brighten up space. MDF will refresh the walls and basement to make the home a better fit for their tastes fixing/patching any minor issues.
