Interior Paint: Trending Colors of 2020

With the colder weather coming, the interior painting season begins. With the holidays coming, the anxiety of your relatives and friends judging your home might be at an all-time high. Before you paint your ceilings on Christmas eve in a complete panic, take this time to think about your new interior look and plan. To help shape some ideas, we took to the net to find the trending colors for interiors in 2020.

Color is the backbone of design, so choosing the best color requires a good look around your home. The furniture and decor are going to lead you in the right direction, whether you plan on working with what you have or starting from scratch after a shopping spree. Keeping this in mind, these paint colors are big for this coming year:

- Shades of Hazelnut & Clay: Think creamy neutrals that come off as warm and inviting instead of beige and boring. Colors like terra cotta, caramel, clove, coffee, mustard, red pepper, spice and burnt orange are perfect. If you have a room that always looks too dark and drab, this might be the solution you're looking for, instead of adding windows.  These shades never go out of style and could make your home beautiful for years to come.

-Lilac Infused Greys: Another neutral color, but with an extra pop! Shades of gray always come off as both classic and modern, but adding the lilac makes it look less stark and cheerier. It also comes off as very subtle, and is predicted to stay a trend after 2020, so you can put off the itch to repaint. Another trendy shade of grey is the classic pewter. This color works with everything, everywhere, so if you can't decide which room to use it in, think of it as a new neutral you can put all around your home.

-Dark & Leafy Greens: Not just for salads! Think of the tropics year-round with shades of green inspired by the botanical gardens. Darker colors can be risky though, so if you're unsure if this will work, start with an accent wall or a door to feel it out. A space to experiment with dark green walls would have great lighting and lots of space or at least an open floor plan. Green hues are another on-going trend for 2020, so it's the perfect time to go bold and beautiful.

-Soft Pastels: If you love the idea of a vibrant color, but maybe you're too shy to commit to a loud palette, pastel is a fantastic way to add some color to rooms. The best pastel interiors have similar hues around them, so the color brings everything together instead of clashing. Think soft yellows, pinks, greens, blues, or even as mentioned previously, lilac. Another trending shade falls into this category: Mist. Think less bright and more a muted blue & green combined with an a matte finish.

The general idea behind this list is to step away from the over-used shades of white and off-white and add more color! The biggest trend of all is using muted and pastel shades of the color wheel to add extra dimension to rooms without getting the feeling of overkill mixed in. At the end of the day, it's your home and your aesthetic. Don't be afraid to change it up because that idea you've been too scared to use in your living room might be the conversation starter during all of your upcoming social events! We've included some photos of trendy colors that our clients have painted!
