Test Patches
A week before the crew begins painting we will meet with
you to discuss and finalize colors for your entire color scheme. The next day we will bring samples of the chosen colors and put test patches on the house to make sure they meet with your approval.
Power Washing
First, the entire surface area of the house and/or decks will be soaked with a TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) solution to
eat away at the dirt, mold and mildew. Next, the entire surface area of the house and/or decks will be thoroughly washed with a 2700 PSI (Pounds per Square Inch)
pressure washer to ensure a fully-cleaned surface for maximum paint/stain adhesion. In addition, we will even hand-wash delicate areas. The pressure washing will be completed 2-3 days prior to preparation work in order to allow for complete drying.
Minor Maintenance
We will caulk necessary areas to stop and prevent exterior moisture problems; spackle large holes and cracks; glaze window mullions that have crumbled; and perform any
other small maintenance items that will achieve a top-
quality paint job. Additional carpentry services (such as replacing shingles, rotten wood, sashes, or window frames) depend upon the condition of your home and are not
included in our general quotations.
Scraping & Sanding
All peeling paint will be scraped away and loose edges will
be sanded by hand or with electric sanders--where necessary--to attain a secure surface for the finish coat.
As preparation work is crucial in guaranteeing the longevity
of your paint job, MDF Painting & Power Washing, LLC
focuses on correcting all paint failures before the finish coat
is applied.
Priming
The highest quality exterior priming coat, Sherwin-Williams
A-100 alkyd primer (see http://sherwin-williams.com for more information on SW products), will be applied to all
bare wood, sealing these areas and creating a proper
surface for finish coat adhesion.
Finish Coat
The highest quality paint on the market (Sherwin-Williams Exterior Duration) will be applied to the prepared house. MDF Painting & Power Washing, LLC will brush the entire finish coat (with the exception of aluminum siding which will be sprayed and deck flooring which will be rolled) in order
to ensure the highest quality job. Brushwork allows for
even coating, better pore adhesion and a longer-lasting job.
Clean Up
At the end of every workday the crew will take down all ladders and store all supplies. On the first day of painting
we will ask you to choose a site for a crew kit and for
ladder storage. Also, at the end of the job the entire work area will be thoroughly cleaned.
Final Inspection
Before the job is considered complete the job site manager will ask you to walk around the house with him to inspect
the work. If you find anything that does not meet your complete satisfaction it will be corrected immediately.
